چکیده
Significance: Sep 30, 2002 Identified By: NRC Item Type: FIN Finding UNEXPECTED CHANGES IN UNIT 2 OPERATING PARAMETERS AND DRYER FAILURE DUE TO FLOW INDUCED VIBRATION. The failure to consider the impact of new flow induced vibration failure mechanisms on the Unit 2 steam dryer as part of the extended power uprate analysis resulted in unexpected and unpredictable changes in reactor power, reactor vessel level, reactor pressure, and main steam line flow between June 7 and July 11, 2002. The licensee subsequently determined that the changes in Unit 2 operating parameters were caused by the failure of a Unit 2 steam dryer cover plate. This finding was more than minor because the changes in Unit 2 operating parameters caused by the degraded dryer created conditions which increased the likelihood of a plant transient. However, this finding was of very low risk significance because the changes in plant parameters and the dryer failure did not contribute to the likelihood of a primary or secondary loss of coolant accident initiator, did not contribute to the likelihood of a reactor trip with mitigating equipment not available, and did not increase the likelihood of a fire or an internal or external flood. There were no violations of NRC requirements due to the steam dryer being non-safety related. Inspection Report# : 2002007(pdf)

In vitro comparison tests of three LV vent valves.
Many surgical teams employ a sump pump to vent the left ventricle (LV). The problems associated with this technique are related to safety and convenience. If the flow is accidentally reversed in the LV vent line, air embolism accidents and subsequent litigation may be the result. If the cannula is occluded, it is inconvenient to juggle pump speed to prevent the line from collapsing while mainta...
متن کاملShort-term performance of mitral valve replacement with porcine bioprosthetic valves in dogs.
Porcine bioprosthetic valves cross-linked with glutaraldehyde and polyepoxy compound were newly developed for mitral valve replacement (MVR) in dogs. Five beagle dogs were performed a left thoracotomy and underwent MVR using the porcine bioprosthetic valves during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). A vein catheter inserted into right atrium and a vent catheter inserted into the right ventricle to dr...

A comparison of aerosol delivery has been made between two open-vent Pari jet nebulizers. Intermittent and continuous delivery were compared for one of the nebulizers. Ten healthy volunteers inhaled 99mTc-labelled diethylenetriamine penta-acetic acid (DTPA) aerosols on three occasions. The Pari LC device was operated both intermittently (by a manual interrupter that generated aerosol only in sy...

Introduction: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in hospitals is one of the most sensitive and costly units which is really important due to safety and health of patients during their stay in these units. Hence, considering the potential risks in this unit, treatment operations for eliminating or decreasing risks are very important. Among these intensive care units, the most important one is the open-he...
